Traditional crossflow membrane filtration using tubular modules is a cheap, but inefficient, way to concentrate permeate flows. A new development of this technology is Dynamic Crossflow Filtration, whereby rotating membrane discs prevent the clogging of the product layers, and at the same time reduce energy consumption by up to 80%, says the manufacturer. Low energy consumption also implies that less heat is imparted to the product, thereby opening up new fields of application. Depending on the application, either ceramic or polymer membranes can be used. Trials for different applications can be performed and analyzed using the company’s mobile test unit. The system is suitable for the separation of solids at high concentrations, such as separations of biomass (enzymes or proteins) as well as in juice production. — Hall 9, Booth 235 — KMPT AG, Vierkirchen, Germany
