Chevron Phillips breaks ground for large U.S. Gulf Coast petrochemical project

Chevron Phillips Chemical Co. LP (The Woodlands, Tex.; www.cpchem.com) held a groundbreaking ceremony for its U.S. Gulf Coast (USGC) Petrochemicals Project at the Cedar Bayou plant in Baytown, Tex.  The groundbreaking ceremony signifies the start of construction for the USGC project sparked by shale resource development. The USGC project includes a 1.5 million metric tons per year (m.t./yr) ethane cracker to be built at the Cedar Bayou facility in Baytown, and two 500 m.t./yr polyethylene facilities to be built in Old Ocean, Tex.
