| By Mary Bailey

GTC Technology (Houston; www.gtctech.com) is licensing its GT-BTX process for a new aromatics recovery unit for PT Chandra Asri Perkasa (CAP2; Jakarta, Indonesia; www.chandra-asri.com), a fully owned subsidiary of PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk. The unit is part of Chandra Asri’s second grassroots petrochemical complex to be built in Indonesia, and will extract benzene, toluene and xylenes from pyrolysis gasoline (pygas).

“This award reinforces GTC’s experience and expertise to upgrade steam cracker by-products, using the most advanced aromatics extraction technology available,’’ said Joseph C. Gentry, GTC’s Vice President, Licensing & Technology.

Sashikant Madgula, GTC’s Regional Licensing Manager for Southeast Asia, added that ‘’GTC Technology continues to expand its Southeast Asia client base serving as a technology partner. Recovery of these valuable co-products is key to profitability of our client, and will also contribute to Indonesia’s economic growth.’’
