Chandra Asri selects CB&I for furnace revamp project

| By Mary Bailey

PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk (CAP; Jakarta, Indonesia; www.chandra-asri.com) has awarded a material supply agreement to CB&I (The Woodlands, Tex.; www.cbi.com) for the revamp of existing furnace facilities at CAP’s naphtha cracker plant. Both companies signed basic and detailed engineering service agreements earlier this year, along with a license and engineering contract with CAP’s group company PT Petrokimia Butadiene Indonesia (PBI).  The furnace revamp is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2020. Construction will commence in the third quarter of 2018. The revamp will increase CAP’s production capacity of several products as follows: ethylene capacity will increase from 860,000 metric tons per year (m.t./yr) to 900,000 m.t./yr; propylene from 470,000 to 490,000 m.t./yr; py-gas from 400,000 to 420,000 m.t./yr; and mixed C4 from 315,000 to 330,000 m.t./yr. The additional production capacities will enable CAP to further serve Indonesian demand for petrochemical products.
