Celanese unveils EVA Performance Polymers Business Unit

| By Dorothy Lozowski

Celanese Corp. (Dallas, Tex.; www.celanese.com) has announced that it will rename its AT Plastics Inc. business, an ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) copolymer and low density polyethylene (LDPE) resin producer, Celanese EVA Performance Polymers Inc.  The name change is expected to occur on Aug. 1, 2009.

The new name highlights Celanese’s commitment to this business via its recent investment in the company’s Edmonton, Canada, facility and through its integration into the global Celanese brand. Additionally, the new name reflects the high level of sophistication of the unit’s work in manufacturing EVA copolymers. The Celanese EVA Performance Polymers business includes traditional applications for EVA copolymers  and LDPE resins, including flexible packaging, lamination products, hot melt adhesives, medical tubing and automotive parts.  Emerging markets for EVA copolymers include pharmaceutical and medical products, the solar energy industry and agricultural applications.
