Casale technology selected for new ammonia plant in Uzbekistan

| By Mary Bailey

Casale SA (Lugano, Switzerland) has been selected by Messrs. Enter Engineering Pte. to provide the technology and design of a new 495,000-ton/yr ammonia plant to be set up in Yangiyer, near Samarkand, Sirdarya region, Uzbekistan. Furthermore, Casale will have the opportunity to participate in the future development of the project.

The ammonia plant will be part of large fertilizer complex that will produce 900,000 metric tons per year (m.t./yr) of mineral fertilizer and it is expected to become fully operational in 2023.

The site preparation works were completed in 2020.

“We are particularly proud for this win as it comes right in the wake of another successful project – the nitric acid plant for Navoiyazot that was put on stream exactly one year ago – and both are a testament of the growing appreciation for our technologies, which contribute to the development of the local economy by creating new jobs as well as reducing the reliance on imported fertilizers,” stated Federico Zardi, CEO of Casale.
