Borealis invests in capacity expansion for crosslinked polymers

| By Mary Page Bailey

Borealis AG (Vienna, Austria; www.borealisgroup.com) is investing in a capacity increase for the crosslinked polymer XLPE at its Stenungsund plant, serving the wire and cable industries. This investment, which increases overall capacity by 20,000 metric tons per year (m.t./yr), is being applied directly to Borlink extra-high-voltage (EHV), high-voltage direct-current (HVDC) and high-voltage (HV) polyethylene compounds produced in closed- or controlled-loop processes.  The capacity increase is scheduled to come on-stream in 2015 and will emphasize Borealis’ global leadership in the EHV and HV markets.
