BASF to market molecular sieve products

| By Scott Jenkins

BASF Catalysts LLC (Iselin, N.J.; www.basf.com) has entered into an original equipment manufacturing (OEM) agreement with Chemiewerk Bad Köstritz (Thüringen, Germany; www.cwk-bk.de) to market molecular sieve products targeted at the natural gas, petroleum refining, petrochemical and air-drying markets.

BASF commented that the molecular sieves covered by this agreement are complementary to those already a part of the company’s adsorbent product portfolio.

Molecular sieves are crystalline aluminosilicates with a regular micropore structure that are used as adsorbents for liquids and gases.

BASF will manage the business through its Adsorbents group, which is part of the BASF Process Catalysts and Technologies business.

Under the OEM agreement, BASF will assume responsibility for sales, distribution and technical support of the products.
