Amec Foster Wheeler wins engineering contract for steam reformer heater in Egypt

| By Mary Bailey

Amec Foster Wheeler (London, U.K.; www.amecfw.com) announced the award of a contract by The National Company for Fertilizers & Chemicals (Agrochem) to supply material and detailed engineering for a steam reformer heater for its fertilizer facility in Alexandria, Egypt.

The steam reformer heater, based on Amec Foster Wheeler’s Terrace Wall design, will operate as the primary reformer in the ammonia production unit, which has a capacity of 250 metric tons per day (m.t./d). This will allow Agrochem to have the complete production line within its facility without any external sourcing of ammonia, a key component in the production of fertilizer.

Agrochem is a new customer for Amec Foster Wheeler. The scope of work is scheduled for completion at the end of 2016.
