Amec Foster Wheeler (London, U.K.; www.amecfw.com) has announced the award of a contract for the design, supply and erection of a circulating fluidized-bed (CFB) boiler island for Deven JSCo, asubsidiary of Solvay Sodi.
The boiler island, the second that Amec Foster Wheeler will have provided for Solvay Sodi, will form part of the existing power plant which produces steam and electricity for a chemical complex located in Devnya, near Varna, Bulgaria.
The company has received full notice to proceed on the contract, the value of which has not been announced. Commercial operation of the new steam generator is scheduled for the second quarter of 2017.
Under the contract, the company will design and supply the 50 MWe (gross megawatt electric) CFB steam generator and auxiliary equipment, and will carry out the erection and commissioning of the boiler island. The steam generator will be designed to burn petroleum coke and bituminous coal, while meeting applicable environmental regulatory requirements.
Tomas Harju-Jeanty, chief executive officer of Amec Foster Wheeler’s Power Systems Technology Group said: “This is the second CFB boiler island that we will have supplied to Solvay Sodi for the Devnya Industrial Power Station. We are delighted to be working here again on a project that reinforces our position as a leading global supplier of petcoke-fired CFBs.”
