Alterra Energy (Akron, Ohio;www.alterraenergy.com) announced that its Akron, Ohio, advanced recycling facility has earned the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification PLUS (ISCC PLUS) certificate as a pyrolysis plant and collection point for mixed plastic waste.
Alterra Energy has developed and commercialized a continuous advanced recycling technology that transforms end-of-life plastic into petrochemical products for further refinement into fuels, waxes and new plastic production. ISCC PLUS is a global multi-stakeholder chain of custody standard for recycled and bio-based materials. The certification provides traceability along the supply chain and verifies that companies meet environmental and social standards. SCS Global Services, a leading global third-party certification body, conducted the independent audit to confirm Alterra Energy’s conformance with the ISCC PLUS standard.
“This is a proud moment in our company’s history, providing confidence to our customers that Alterra Energy is a reliable partner in building a circular and sustainable future,” said CEO Frederic Schmuck. “We are re-imagining a future where society is free from landfilling and incinerating plastic waste, unlocking the full potential of the continuous use of waste plastics. Alterra creates economic value for waste plastic, enabling the circular economy and creating a cleaner world.”
