Alstom establishes carbon capture unit with Lummus acquisition

| By Scott Jenkins

Alstom (Levallois-Perret, France; www.alstom.com) has established a new unit, Alstom Carbon Capture GmbH, with the acquisition of the former Lummus Global.

The newly minted unit has over 100 employees, and will be integrated into Alstom’s existing carbon-capture-systems activities.

The new entity has the capabilities required for the design and turnkey delivery of CO2-capture plants. The acquisition will help Alstom offer services aimed at commercializing large-scale CO2-capture systems. Those services include studies and front-end-engineering-design packages, as well as pilot plant and demonstration units for CO2 capture systems.

Alstom Carbon Capture will work with customers in both the traditional energy arena, as well as in renewable energy plants, and will work on solutions for both new and existing facilities.

Alstom is currently involved at various stages in ten demonstration projects of CO2 capture systems.
