Air Liquide completes upgrade and expansion project in Bayport, Tex.

| By Scott Jenkins

On Wednesday, April 27, 2016, Air Liquide (Paris, France; www.airliquide.com) will host a luncheon and inauguration ceremony to celebrate the upgrade and expansion of its world-scale industrial complex located in the Bayport Industrial District, just east of Houston, Texas. The multi-phased redevelopment project, successfully completed in February 2016, enables Air Liquide to better meet the needs of customers throughout the Texas industrial basin in a safe, energy-efficient and reliable way.

Air Liquide first announced the major redevelopment project in 2013. The $230 million investment included upgrades to four state-of-the-art, energy efficient cogeneration units to increase production capacity and extend the life of the units by more than 20 years. The facility now has the capacity to produce 300 megawatts of electricity and more than 1,300 tonnes of steam per hour. The project also included the upgrade and expansion of an air separation unit as well as additional infrastructure upgrades.
