AGC to increase production capacity for spherical silica product

AGC (Tokyo) announced that its subsidiary AGC Si-Tech Co. is increasing production capacity for Resifa Sunsphere, a silica product used in cosmetic products made from natural sources. At the Company’s Wakamatsu Plant (Wakamatsu-Ward, Kitakyushu City), facility expansion will be implemented to increase production capacity by approximately 1.5 times that of the current level. Operations are scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2025.

Resifa Sunsphere is made from natural silica processed into a spherical shape using the company’s unique manufacturing process. It is sold as a spherical, agglomerate-free silica powder. The product is used in cosmetic manufacturers worldwide. It adds various functions to cosmetic, such as improvement of stickiness, blurring effects due to its light-scattering capabilities, and smooth feeling.
