A. Schulman, Inc. (Akron, Ohio; www.aschulman.com) has announced an agreement to purchase a selected majority of the assets of the Specialty Plastics business segment from Ferro Corp. Ferro’s Specialty Plastics business segment develops high-quality specialty compounds, colors and coatings. When this transaction is completed, it will be A. Schulman’s ninth acquisition over the past four years, in addition to three joint ventures, as the company continues to successfully execute its aggressive growth strategy. The acquisition from Ferro supports the company’s strategy to expand engineered plastics and masterbatch color capabilities in the U.S., while also giving them extended geographical reach in both the U.S. and Spain.
