A laboratory capsule-filling machine gets an upgrade

| By Chemical Engineering

Replacing its predecessor, the new GKF 702 capsule-filling machine has been designed to produce small batches directly in the laboratory. The parameters required later for production, such as machine speed, can be fully simulated. Therefore, the machine can produce small batches for R&D or clinical purposes under realistic production conditions. A special filling station, called the Mini-Bowl, was developed for small product batches (100–300 mL) and delivers high yields, which is important for expensive and limited powder volumes. A slide-gate system is also available for higher batch yields and for filling free-flowing granulates or pellets. — Bosch Packaging Technology, Waiblingen, Germany
