A double planetary mixer for viscous materials

| By Chemical Engineering

Often used for the mixing of high-viscosity materials (up to 6-million cP), the Double Planetary Mixer (DPM) contains two mixing blades that revolve on their own axes, as well as a common axis, within the mix vessel. The mix pattern ensures that all materials in the vessel are intermixed within a few minutes and that ingredients are not damaged during mixing. Units can includes the following: vacuum construction; special addition ports; jacketed mix cans on castors for heating and cooling; thermocouples to monitor temperature; stainless-steel construction; manually operated flush-discharge valves; and variable speed drives. — Charles Ross and Sons Co., Hauppauge, N.Y.
