Asahi Kasei Chemicals Corp. (Tokyo, Japan; www.asahi-kasei.co.jp) has finalized a decision to establish a subsidiary for plastic compounds in Mexico, through its U.S. subsidiary Asahi Kasei Plastics North America, Inc. (APNA).
Continued demand growth for plastic compounds is forecasted in Mexico, where various manufacturing facilities are increasingly located, especially by U.S., European, and Japanese manufacturers in the automotive industry. The new subsidiary, tentatively called Asahi Kasei Plastics Mexico Inc., will perform sales and technical support focused on the needs of customers in Mexico, enabling further expansion of business for plastic compounds in the growing Mexican market. Startup of the subsidiary is projected in Sept. 2015, with headquarters in Querétaro, Mexico.
While the new subsidiary will perform sales and technical support in the Mexican market, Asahi Kasei Chemicals will also study the possibility of local manufacturing of plastic compounds in Mexico.
