2020 CEPCI Updates: October (prelim.) and Sept. (final)

| By Scott Jenkins

The preliminary value for the CE Plant Cost Index (CEPCI) for October 2020 (the most recent data available) increased compared to the previous month’s value, after the final September value was downwardly revised. The October increase continues a period of up-and-down fluctuations in the CEPCI values. The Equipment, Construction Labor and Buildings subindexes increased in October, while the Engineering & Supervision subindex fell slightly. The current CEPCI value now sits at 0.6% lower than the corresponding value from October of last year. Meanwhile, the newest data for the Current Business Indicators (CBI) showed the CPI Output Index edging higher in October and November, and a higher CPI Value of Output for October.
