The preliminary value for the August CE Plant Cost Index (CEPCI; most recent available) increased compared to the previous month’s value. The increase was driven by rising values for several (but not all) equipment subindices, including Pipes, Valves and Fittings and Process Instruments. While the August value for the Equipment subindex was up as a whole, the subindices for two of the major subindices (Construction Labor and Engineering & Supervision) were down from the previous month’s values. The preliminary overall monthly CEPCI value for August 2017 stands at 5.1% higher than the corresponding value from August 2016. Meanwhile, the latest Current Business Indicators (CBI) saw a small decline in the CPI Output Index for September.
